Mission, Vision & Goals

Mission

To strengthen and empower the Penn State Abington community's competency of and participation in civic engagement through cocurricular education. SEAL provides opportunities in collaboration with the Penn State Abington and local/regional/national partners for students to recognize and develop their civic potential through active, engaged service.

Vision

Grounded in concepts of equity and justice, SEAL recognizes the inherent dignity and worth of all individuals who constitute our intertwined communities. SEAL values deep partnerships with community organizations/schools and members, and envisions this work in cocreation with multiple constituents. These partnerships are meant to catalyze personal, institutional, and community change that, in turn, support a vision of an inclusive democracy; a thriving, diverse community; and equity and social justice.

Goals and Guiding Principles

  • Enhance students' educational experience by engaging them in curricular and co-curricular activities that promote civic participation and build community capacity.
